Attention! HP battery recall for F700 series (among many other laptops)

While this blog is about the F572us laptop, we have also mentioned the F700-series a few times, so some of the regular visitors may own this model. The F700-series of Compaq Pavilion laptops are among the many HP and Compaq models that are affected by a battery recall that was issued on May 14, 2009!

HP will send you a new battery and then include mailing material for you to return the recalled batteries back to them!

You can read more about it at geek.com!

You can also check the instructions from HP, availble in PDF format and at their product support pages.

Hi Hi Tech User Reviews,

It's been a long time (Anonymous 4G ram guy from F730 thread) - glad to see you still have the blog going.

I recently checked with HP on the status of my F730 Battery.

Connected to India, turns out my battery is not on the recall list.

So the HP rep proceeds to try & sell me one ("do I want to get one") @ $129.99.

Not interested, he then offers me a 1 yr extended warranty, something about $99.00 + $30.00 for 1 year.

Add a not inexpensive MS Windows 7 upgrade (crazy pricing) - & I have nearly enough to get brand new 64bit system .... ha, ha ....

btw - I added a HP w2338h 23" Monitor last year - WOW - what a nice one. Highly recommended. Pretty fair price too, from Staples.

Take care.

btw - the $129.99 HP/India wanted for the new battery, was for only a 6-cell replacement model ....

Someone has to pay for that huge recall, I guess ....

... & I imagine it isn't the batterys Chinese Mfg ....

wow, that's half the price of a netbook. I guess they are trying to find ways to make up for the dropping prices of computers.

HTUR,

Looks like my 1st comment on this thread didn't make it?

Anyway here's the Gadget link (mentioned in the cooler thread):

1) GPU Observer ...

&

2) CPU Meter v2.2 ...

http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=587ef54f-e121-418b-b258-e583e105a0d6&bt=1&pl=1

They're relatively new to me - don't know yet if they're worth the drag on the system ...

How about a new thread for Gadgets?
